Cleanout Levels Explained

Understanding Your Cleanout Needs

Every property—and every situation—is different. The descriptions below provide a general guide to the amount of clutter, how accessible the space is, and the work a cleanout may involve.

These levels describe property conditions, not the people who live there. You don’t need to identify a level before contacting us. New Space of Tulsa will assess the property and explain your options with compassion, respect, and without judgment.

Level 1 — Light clutter

Unwanted items have accumulated, but most rooms remain usable and pathways are generally clear.

Common examples:

  • Boxes, clothing, or furniture taking up extra space.
  • Clutter concentrated in a room, garage, or storage area.
  • Belongings that need to be sorted and removed.

Cleanout focus: Removing unwanted contents and making the affected spaces easier to use.

Level 2 — Moderate clutter

Clutter occupies a substantial amount of space. Rooms are harder to use, and some areas may have become storage spaces.

Common examples:

  • Furniture and belongings covering much of the available floor space.
  • Narrowed pathways between items.
  • Household items or trash accumulating in several areas.

Cleanout focus: Clearing larger volumes of contents and improving access to rooms and walkways.

Level 3 — Heavy clutter

Accumulated contents significantly interfere with everyday use of the property. Some rooms or important areas may be difficult to reach.

Common examples:

  • Multiple rooms filled with belongings or debris.
  • Beds, counters, or appliances difficult to access.
  • Large piles that require careful removal.

Cleanout focus: Planning the removal process, clearing substantial contents, and reopening access to affected spaces.

Level 4 — Extensive accumulation

Dense clutter affects much of the property. Several rooms cannot be used as intended, and access may be severely restricted.

Common examples:

  • Contents obstructing doors, stairs, or major pathways.
  • Multiple rooms that are inaccessible or unusable.
  • Kitchens or bathrooms that are difficult to reach or use.

Cleanout focus: Assessing access and conditions, then organizing a thorough cleanout with the appropriate crew and equipment.

Level 5 — Severe conditions

Extensive accumulation is combined with hazardous or especially challenging conditions. A detailed assessment is needed to determine how the work can proceed.

Common examples:

  • Essential living spaces or exits blocked by accumulated contents.
  • Heavy debris throughout the property.
  • Waste, pests, unstable piles, or other conditions requiring special attention.

Cleanout focus: Reviewing the conditions, identifying the work and precautions required, and discussing any specialized services the property may need.

Not Sure Where to Start?

You don’t need to organize the property or choose a cleanup level before reaching out. We’ll listen to your priorities, review the space, and help you understand the next step.
